Hi friends -
A few months ago I shared my story with Jessica Dahlquist of the Extraordinary Moms Podcast on how becoming a mother broke open the memories of my abusive upbringing. I discussed with Jessica how I, like many adult survivors of child abuse who become parents, was suddenly faced with reliving the horrible memories of the past that were innocently triggered by my new son, and how I've leaned to walk through life as a mother, spouse and entrepreneur while living with this form of PTSD.
This has not been an easy journey and I've had many setbacks and bad days for every stride forward - but by repeatedly showing up for myself and doing the hard work of exploring those dark and scary interior corners, I'm in a much healthier place than I was three years ago. And as a result, I'm a better mother, wife, and person for myself.
I hope that by sharing my story and bringing to light the realities often faced by adult survivors of abuse that I'm able to help inspire others to not be afraid to face what is holding them back in their lives - no matter how scary it may seem. Your best life will truly be found on the other side of that hard work and pain. I hope you enjoy the interview - click here or on the image above to listen!
Grace and peace -
